Polish Boxing

Post by *Chris* » Tue Jan 03, 2006 1:49 am

I'm not sure how many of you are interested, but I'll post what's happening with Adamek.

There were rumours that Adamek could fight Roy Jones next, or even Bernard Hopkins. Well that idea is out the window since those two are fighting each other for big money in March, and possibly a final fight for both boxers. **There is always a chance of injury and Adamek replacing the injured fighter.

Antonio Tarver doesn't look like he will fight Adamek next. I have heard that Tarver is looking to move up to heavyweight, and possibly fight Tyson in his first fight. Even if he does go up the HW...he won't last long.

Glen Johnson is fighting Danny Santiago in late February so he is out as well.

I recently read that Adamek might fight Zsolt Erdei, undefeated Hungarian WBO light heavyweight champ...........in Iraq.
Here's that article:
http://sport.onet.pl/1020287,0,0,wia,12 ... plina.html

I also wouldn't mind seeing Adamek fight Fabrice Tiozzo, who beat Dariusz Michalczewski into retirement in his last fight.

Breaking news: Jones-Hopkins II is off!

Reliable sources have informed Boxingtalk.com that the Roy Jones Jr-Bernard Hopkins II will not take place on March 11 and might not take place at all. Hopkins will meet with his Golden Boy Partners later this week to discuss his future plans but Boxingtalk.com understands the future hall of famer will not retire before fighting at least once more. Jones and Hopkins were both unavailable for immediate comment.

This could mean Adamek can fight either one now.

That's not true. We have other very good boxers in different weight classes.

I'd say pound-4-pound our top 3 Polish boxers are

1. Tomasz Adamek
2. Maciej (Matt) Zegan
3. Krzysztof Wlodarczyk

I don`t like Wlodarczyk, I think he is very slow, I would put Kostecki in his place, have you checked out www.adamek.com.pl yet.

Kostecki ahead of Wlodarczyk? are you on crack?

Kostecki is a very good prospect at this moment.. while Wlodarczyk hasnt played with the big boys yet, he has accomplished alot more and foughter tougher opponents than Kostecki...

i havent watched Zegan fight, but is he really better than Wlodarczyk Chris?

Kostecki is a very good prospect. Watch out for him in about 2 years in the light heavyweight division.

Rafal W...yah I check out Adamek's website regularily.

As for Zegan, yes I do think P4P he's better than Wlodarczyk right now.

He's 36-1 and his 1 loss was a very controversial MD loss to Artur Grigorian fpr the WBO lightweight title. But that was 2 years ago. He hasn't had a shot at a major title since then. His 37th fight was his first in the US (Chicago), so hopefully he can gain some popularity in 2006.

Also, check out Grzegorz Proksa. He's a 21 year old light middleweight with a bright future. He's only 4-0 so far, but I saw his last fight, and he has some very good skills.

Oh...btw...AKSoldier...you were at the United Center for the Golota fight right?

You remember that Carlos Baldomir, the guy that recently beat Zab Judah, fought on that undercard?

Looks like Adamek's next opponent will be Clinton Woods.

So now it looks like Adamek's next opponent might by Lou Del Valle. This guy reached his prime in 1998 when he fought RJJ and lost a lopsided UD.
Not sure why he deserves a shot at Adamek.

Oh and Grzegorz Proksa fights again this Saturday on the undercard of Paquiao and Morales. This kid has a bright future.

Well Adamek better not take Del Valle lightly, I wouldn`t be surprised with an upset, remember this was the first guy to knock down Jones.

from Adamek's official website

I hope that he ends up fighting Woods and not this Valle character.. this guy is NOT a big name. .

Actually he is pretty well know to boxing fans, much more than Woods, has been around for a long time, how can you say he is not know just cause you don`t know him, around boxing circles he is a big name.
