Polish government ' backs 2022 Winter Olympic bid'

http://www.thenews.pl/1/5/Artykul/12513 ... lympic-bid
Krakow would be the main host city of the games, staging the majority of the events played on ice, while Zakopane, Poland's winter capital, would handle snowboarding, cross country skiing and the biathlon.

Slovakia would organise a number of skiing events, while also hosting a portion of the ice hockey fixtures.

Other possible candidates include St Moritz, Oslo, Barcelona, Nice and Lviv.

Tatra mountains would be a great place to have it.

So do I as winter sports are severely underfunded in Poland. We completely suck at it.

The quality of the cladding material is without a doubt rather disappointing, especially relative to the renders. Things do look much more hopeful though where/when the foil is removed. Still going to be a sexy tower either way.

I'm personally in love with the Twarda tower :naughty:

Zlota 44 is a great addition to WWA skyline. Its design is an unusual shape.

Twarda tower is nice but its simple and boxy like the others. There isn't anything really anything special about it.

Agreed, it's going to be a sexy addition to the Wawa cluster

Totally disagree, sometimes simplicity, as is the case of Twarda, is the most beautiful simply because of said simplicity

Robert Dziekanski's death ruled a homicide

More than five years after Robert Dziekanski died at Vancouver International Airport, the BC Coroners Service has classified his death as a homicide.

The coroner’s report released Monday found that Dziekanski, 40, died from a heart attack moments after four RCMP officers zapped him five times with a Taser.

The Polish immigrant landed in Vancouver on Oct. 13, 2007. Unable to speak English and with no Polish translator available, Dziekanski spent the next 10 hours waiting for his immigration application to be approved by customs officials.

By the time he was released into the semi-secure international reception lounge, he became agitated and confused.

While witnesses didn’t report feeling threatened, airport security called the RCMP nonetheless.

No charges were ever laid in his death and the coroner’s ruling does not imply fault or blame.

Dziekanski’s death was extensively investigated by the Braidwood Inquiry. Its recommendations led to a significant drop in police Taser use starting in 2008 and the creation of the Independent Investigations Office — an agency that investigates deaths and serious injuries involving police.

The Mounties involved are currently facing perjury charges in relation to their testimony at the Braidwood Inquiry.
