Refball World Cup.

How is that not a foul?

How is that a penalty?

Questionable since you aren't supposed to touch goalkeeper in the 6yard box, but still.... Fair challenge.

Closer look at that penalty call.

Giovanni had two defenders + gk infront of him.

Not offside.

let me guess. u think this was a dive too. go watch the replay in HD. left foot gets clipped 100% and costa was already off balance so he'd def go down. Costa is also not one for diving. But it was an obvious pk.

No, I think it was a very unfortunate penalty decision, but a penalty decision nonetheless. As I said in chat.

He got clipped by the De Vrijs' trailing leg. Very unfortunate that it happened, not necessarily De Vrij's fault (Diego Costa made the decision to turn, otherwise De Vrij's tackle would've got the ball.)

Other replays from different angles show that Diego Costa actually stepped on De Vrij's trailing leg, an was pulled away by De Vrij's momentum.

Again, very unfortunate incident, but shit happens.

i dont think he was thinking to step on it intentionally to draw a pk. i think he was putting his foot down to push off since the defender was about o fly by him after he cut in. point is de vrij got fooled. he too knows what hes doing leaving his leg in like that to try a last desperate half tackle/half i hope i disrupt u somehow without the ref calling a pk.
